The Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders Association has donated LKR 3.2 million to the government’s “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” Fund, reaffirming the private sector’s commitment to supporting national recovery efforts in the aftermath of the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
The official cheque handover ceremony took place at the Presidential Secretariat, where the Association’s Chairman, Andre Fernando, presented the contribution to Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
The donation is intended to assist ongoing relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction initiatives aimed at restoring normalcy in communities severely affected by the cyclone. Cyclone Ditwah caused extensive damage across several regions of the country, disrupting transportation networks, damaging homes and public infrastructure, and affecting thousands of families.
The Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders Association represents a broad network of stakeholders within the country’s logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, and supply chain sectors. Industry representatives have continued to play a key role in facilitating the transportation of essential goods and humanitarian supplies during periods of crisis and disruption.
The contribution by the Association comes amid a broader wave of support from private sector institutions, civil society organizations, and members of the public who have rallied together to assist communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah and support the country’s recovery journey.
