MAC Holdings undertook several initiatives to raise awareness and prevent the spread of dengue. It was conducted primarily as we identified that this topic was essential to the society’s needs of the hour. For MAC, the most basic methods prove to be the most effective, and therefore, conducting a workshop to clean surrounding areas of dengue breeding grounds was carried out.
In addition to this, we here at MAC also carry out several health camps and blood donation drives at regular intervals through our calendar year.
Through ‘Project – GRATITUDE’, we targeted the Society at large. The project was aimed at the Kalubowila General Hospital (Colombo South Teaching Hospital), and the MAC Sports Club Committee took the initiative to renovate ‘Ward No 3’, housing over 60 patients. This included fixing & painting ceiling fans & lights, masonry work, painting the entire ward and other ancillary work on beds, cupboards and lockers. In addition to this project, we further carried out a CSR project at the ‘Sirisangabo School’ in Embilipitiya. This included refurbishing and upgrading the wash rooms, building a fence for the protection of the students and painting of the school’s class rooms.
Following the aftermath of several natural disasters within the country, the MAC Sports Club mobilized within days to ensure that families in flood and landslide affected areas were provided with essential items; this included roofing sheets, cleaning products and kerosene cookers.
